Clearly signed to the front cover by Bruce Dickinson, Steve Harris, Adrian Smith and Dave Murray following their gig at Manchester Apollo on the Thursday 4th March 1982. Supported by The Rods an American band formed by David Rock Feinstein, ex Elf guitarist and cousin to Ronnie James Dio. Number of the Beast was Maidens third studio album and the first with Bruce Dickinson and the last with Clive Burr. It was a critical and commercial success reaching number one in the UK and formed the platform for their rise to super stardom over the next 4 decades. two songs from the album, Number of the Beast and Run to the Hills are almost permanent fixtures of their live show.
