Parlophone promo photo from 1993 signed in black pen, released to promote the 1993 biographical film What’s Love Got To Do With It based on her autobiography and released along with a soundtrack album.
Born Anna Mae Bullock, Tina Turner rose to prominence in the 60s performing with her soon to be husband Ike. She filed for divorce in 1976 due to Ike’s infidelity, volatile behaviour and drug abuse and an attempted suicide in 1968 and launched her solo career in 1977. Her career was re-vitalised in the 80s with the release of the album Private Dancer in June 1984 which peaked at number three on the Billboard 200. The second single from the album What’s Love Got To Do With It provide her with her first and only US number one single. The song had been offered to Cliff Richard, Phyllis Hyman and Donna Summer before Bucks Fizz recorded it in February 1984 but following Turner’s release in May 1984 it was shelved.
